Over the past several years, TriWest has worked collaboratively with MTFs throughout the 21-state West Region to address a variety of communication challenges. These efforts have resulted in the creation of effective strategic communications models that can be leveraged to mitigate negative impact and promote positive developments including, but not limited to:
- Facility closures or downsizing
- Negative media exposure about a location-specific health care issue
- Significant changes to local health care resources or services
- Heavy deployments of medical personnel

What is strategic communication?
Strategic communication services offered include a variety of tactics addressing several impacted target audiences in a coordinated, timely implementation plan, including:
- Develop communications plans, tactics, timelines
- Letters to local Congressional delegation
- Letters to impacted TRICARE beneficiaries
- Letters to providers
- Coordinate/Communicate community forum/town hall meetings
- Beneficiary flier, fact sheets, etc.
- Media advisory to local military and civilian media
- Article for base paper
- Coordinate press briefings
- Develop talking points for CMDR briefings/news conference
- Prep spokesperson(s)
- Submit Recap article for base publications & civilian media
